UN Sustainable Development Goals and external commitments

We are committed to the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and have developed our sustainability strategy in line with these national and international frameworks. We will report performance publicly and in accordance with the widely established Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. Furthermore, we have pledged to disclose our ESG performance to the Qatar Stock Exchange which became a signatory to the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative and released its ‘Guidance to ESG reporting’ to encourage voluntary disclosures by listed companies. In the spirit of transparency this data is readily available to the public.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the principle global framework for sustainability. Their aim is to protect the planet, end poverty, fight inequalities and ensure prosperity.

Launched in 2016, through to 2030, the 17 goals are underpinned by 169 detailed targets and apply to every nation …and every sector.  Cities, businesses, schools, organisations, all are challenged to act.

To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals it is estimated between $5-7 trillion dollars of annual investment is needed across sectors and industries, between now and 2030.*

United Nations Global Compact

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, consists of ten principles to promote better business practices in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

In 2019, QNB Group joined the UNGC and committed to making the principles part of our strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of the company. In support of public accountability and transparency, we will report on progress annually.
